Refund Policy

We want you to be satisfied with your experience on Ē Ala! , so eligible courses purchased on Ē Ala! can be refunded within 15 days provided that it meets the guidelines of the refund policy.  Some restrictions apply to certain courses and may only be eligible for a marketplace credit.  Please read this Refund Policy carefully and refer to the terms of the course to understand what you are entitled to.

Our Policy On Membership Subscriptions and Service Plans

There are no refunds or partial refunds on our membership subscriptions and service plans, unless otherwise required by applicable law.  If you are enrolled in a membership subscription or service plan with a free trial, you can cancel the free trial anytime without being charged.  Just go to your account page and cancel your membership subscription or plan.

Our 15-Day Policy On Eligible Courses

Our 15-Day Refund Policy on eligible Courses allow Users to cancel a Course purchase within 15-days from their purchase, but prior to delivery of a Course, whichever occurs sooner.  Once the 15-day grace period or a Course is considered "delivered", Course owners are paid and we do not process refunds.  We reserve the right to limit or deny refund requests in cases where we believe there is an abuse of this policy.  Refund restrictions will be enforced to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Policies on Courses That Have Withdrawal Periods

If a course has a start date, you will have Withdrawal Terms outlined on the Course Page.  Refunds will be issued based upon the Withdrawal Terms of the Course.

Marketplace Credits

When a transaction is not eligible for a refund or does not meet our 15-Day Policy or a Course's Withdrawal Terms, a Marketplace Credit may be granted.  If a significant portion of a course has been consumed by a User before a credit request is made, we reserve the right to limit or deny a marketplace credit request.

Types of purchases that may be eligible for a marketplace credit.

  • Lack of performance.  Premium courses may include Kumu/Instructor interaction.  The terms of this interaction are provided in the Terms of a Course.  If a course has been delivered, and the Terms of the Course are not met by the Kumu/Instructor within the period of time stipulated in the Course Terms, a marketplace credit may be issued.
  • Mobile in-app purchases.  In-app purchases are processed through the mobile app store, not by Ē Ala!; therefore, we are unable to offer refunds for in-app purchases made on the mobile app store.  You can go to the mobile app store where you made your mobile app purchase regarding their refund policy.
  • Ē Ala! sponsored promotions.  Courses that are bundled in a promotion come as a whole package.  Once a Course in the package has been delivered or 15-days have elapsed from the date of purchase We may issue a marketplace credit for a bundle dependent upon portion of bundle course content consumed.  If a bundle has been included in a membership subscription or service plan, a refund or marketplace credit cannot be issued. 

Reasons a Refund or Credit May Be Denied.

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to limit or deny any refund or credit requests in cases where we believe there is an abuse of this policy which may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • A significant portion of the course has been consumed by a User prior to a refund or credit request.
  • Excessive number of refunds or credits have be made by User.
  • A Users whose account has been restricted, banned, or course access has been disabled due to a violation of our Terms and Conditions or Trust & Safety Guidelines.
  • Services secured through a third-party where we do not have the transaction on file and cannot initiate a refund for you.
  • Purchases on private communities or exclusive services and content.  Contact the Host of these services or content to request a refund directly as these types of services and content are bound by the terms of those services and content.
